Wedding of George's Lucky Dozen's First Student

By George Nepert (India 3)

Friends of India's charity, George's Lucky Dozen, provides educational opportunities for hardworking, bright, very poor students through sponsorships.  The charity started in 2008.  Asha, the very first Lucky Dozen student, was a bright high school senior in Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, who had no hope to continue her studies, so Brenda and I sponsored her fully for nursing school.  Asha received her BSN and was ready for a marriage partner, choosing Siva. In January, I traveled to India to help celebrate the wedding of Ash and Siva. A video of the wedding can be viewed here.

Since 2008-17 Lucky Dozen sponsors have contributed a quarter of a million dollars, helping about 250 poor deserving students.

In the wedding celebration video you will see Asha, Siva, myself, my sister, Mary, and Sr. Mary Therese (Lucky Dozen coordinator in Kodaikanal). The Kodai St. Xavier's School students perform singing and dance routines. It was an honor to be there. The students were marvelous.
